Our project
In the pastoralist Maasai community of Olobelibel in Kajiado County, Kenya, water is more than a basic need. It is the foundation of health, livelihoods, education, and resilience.
For years, families have lived with the realities of a semi-arid climate, recurring droughts, and increasing pressure on natural resources. Women and children often spend hours searching for water, while livestock, the backbone of many households, become increasingly vulnerable during prolonged dry seasons.
Yet amid these challenges, the community continues to demonstrate remarkable strength and determination. Local knowledge, collective action, and a commitment to finding sustainable solutions have helped families adapt to changing conditions while holding on to their way of life.
As an organisation passionate about community development and resilience, we are inspired by stories like Olobelibel's. They remind us that behind every statistic about drought or water scarcity are real people working every day to create better futures for their families and communities.
In the coming weeks, we will be sharing an exciting update about a community-led initiative that is helping transform access to water in Olobelibel and what this means for the people who call this place home.
