Success: The Price Few Are Willing to Pay

I’ve learned along the way that success costs far more than most people imagine—and much more than many are willing to pay. It demands time, energy, sacrifice, and sometimes, the willingness to walk a lonely road. Success is not for the weak or the faint-hearted. That’s why so many desire it, but only a few ever reach it.

When I reflect on my own journey, I realise that success isn’t just about talent or ambition—it’s about resilience. It’s the countless times I’ve had to get back up after setbacks, the nights I’ve questioned myself, and the mornings I’ve pushed forward when quitting felt easier. It’s about giving up comfort in the short term for the possibility of something greater in the long term.

The mental health angle here is real. Chasing success can take a toll on our wellbeing. Millennials, especially, living in a world of constant comparison, side hustles, and endless “highlight reels,” often feel the crushing weight of expectation. Burnout, self-doubt, and anxiety creep in when we measure ourselves against others or set unrealistic timelines.

But here’s what keeps me grounded: success doesn’t mean sacrificing your mind and soul. Resilience is not about being unbreakable; it’s about learning how to bend without snapping. It’s about drawing boundaries, practising self-care, and accepting that progress isn’t always a straight line.

I’ve had to redefine success for myself—not as a destination, but as a process of becoming. Every small victory counts. Every lesson in failure matters. Every moment I choose courage over fear, I grow stronger.

So, if you’re on the path to your own version of success, remember this: the price is high, but it doesn’t have to cost you your mental health. Protect your energy. Build resilience. Trust the process. And most importantly, keep going—you’re closer than you think.
