Strengthening Community Health Systems

Yesterday marked a significant milestone in strengthening community health systems in Endebess, as we officially launched the first day of onboarding and capacity building for 30 Community Health Promoters drawn from 10 health units. This initiative reflects a gradual but intentional expansion of healthcare coverage at the community level, ensuring that essential services reach households where they are needed most.

The training was officially opened by the Sub-County Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Lasoi, who reaffirmed her strong support for the PFP program and emphasized the importance of empowering community health workers as the foundation of primary healthcare delivery.

We were also joined by four Community Health Assistants who will play a key role in guiding the CHPs, particularly in Maternal, Sexual, and Reproductive Health (MSRH) service delivery at the household level. Their presence strengthened the learning environment and reinforced the importance of mentorship in community health work.

This moment is more than a training. It is a step toward building resilient communities where health knowledge, prevention, and early intervention begin at the household level. When CHPs are equipped, entire communities are empowered.

However, this is only the beginning.

We are calling on partners, stakeholders, and well-wishers to support the scaling of community health capacity building initiatives like this one. With more resources, training opportunities, and sustained mentorship, we can strengthen primary healthcare systems and ensure no household is left behind.

Call to Action:

Join us in supporting community-led health systems. Invest in CHPs, support training programs, and help us strengthen the bridge between households and healthcare facilities. Together, we can build healthier, more informed, and more resilient communities.
