Still Rising: A Young Ugandan Woman's Journey of Hope and Determination.

When I graduated, I thought the hardest part of my journey was over.

There was a time when I truly believed that once I completed my education, life would naturally fall into place. Like many young women, I carried dreams for my future. I worked hard, made sacrifices, and held onto the belief that determination would open doors that once felt closed.

But after graduation, I found myself standing in a place I had not expected: uncertainty.

Days turned into weeks, and weeks into months. I sent application after application. I remember waking up in the morning and the first thing I would do was check my email with hope in my heart. Each time my phone rang, I would pause for a moment, wondering if it was finally the opportunity I had been waiting for. But many times, the silence continued. No reply. No feedback. Just silence.

And somehow, the silence was heavier than rejection.

There were moments when I questioned myself. I wondered if I was doing something wrong, or if I was not good enough. Some days carried a quiet discouragement that was difficult to explain to anyone around me.

What many people do not see is that behind every unemployed young woman is a story that is rarely told. A story of effort. A story of hope. A story of waking up every day and choosing to try again, even when the results are not yet visible.

I watched friends and fellow graduates walk through similar struggles. Some slowly began to lose confidence. Others started to doubt their own worth. It became clear to me that we were not alone in this experience, even though it often felt that way.

But in the middle of all this uncertainty, I discovered something powerful: the strength of women standing together.

I met women who encouraged me when I felt like giving up. Women who shared advice, offered guidance, and reminded me that my value was not defined by rejection or silence. Their words became a source of strength on days when my own belief felt weak.

Through them, I began to understand something important.

Resilience is not about never feeling discouraged. It is about choosing to continue even when discouragement is present. It is about holding onto hope when the outcome is still unclear.

Today, my journey is still unfolding. I do not have all the answers, and I have not yet reached all the goals I once imagined. But I have learned to appreciate small progress, to keep learning, and to trust that every step forward still matters.

The challenges young women face are often spoken about in numbers and reports. But behind every number is a human being with dreams, potential, and a life still in progress.

My story is one of many.

It is the story of a young woman who refuses to let uncertainty define her. It is the story of choosing hope over despair and persistence over surrender.

Most importantly, it is a reminder that when women support one another, we become stronger than the challenges we face.

To every woman who feels unseen, unheard, or uncertain about her future: your story is not over. Even in silence, even in waiting, something within you is still growing.
