A small candle, a big dream. Lighting the path toward independence, confidence, and economic power.

When people hear the words "economic power," they often think about wealth, bank accounts, or large businesses. For me, economic power means something much deeper. It means having the ability to make decisions, support loved ones, create opportunities, and live with dignity. It means having a voice that is respected and the confidence to shape my own future.

Growing up, I witnessed how financial challenges affected many women around me. I saw talented, hardworking women who dedicated their lives to their families but often had little control over financial decisions. Their contributions were invaluable, yet their work was rarely recognized as economic power. This made me realize that wealth is not only measured by money. Wealth can also be measured by education, knowledge, support systems, good health, strong relationships, and the ability to help others thrive.

After my marriage, I became even more aware of the realities many women face. My sister-in-law became a widow at a very young age and was left to raise two young daughters on her own. Watching her struggle through grief, financial uncertainty, and social pressure was heartbreaking. Yet what inspired me most was her determination. Despite the challenges, she never stopped fighting for a better future for her daughters.

Her journey taught me an important lesson: economic power is not simply about earning an income. It is also about resilience, courage, and the ability to keep moving forward even when life becomes difficult. I saw how access to opportunities, community support, and self-confidence could transform a woman's life. I also realized how many women around the world are carrying similar burdens while continuing to care for their families and communities.

As a mother of twins, I understand the responsibility of nurturing the next generation. Raising children requires time, energy, emotional strength, and countless sacrifices. Although caregiving is often unpaid, it is one of the most important contributions to society. Mothers, caregivers, and women who support their families every day are creating value that cannot always be measured in financial terms.

Over the years, I began seeking opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute beyond my household responsibilities. Through leadership programs, community activities, and women's networks, I discovered the importance of personal development and economic independence. Every new skill I learned increased my confidence. Every conversation with other women expanded my understanding of what empowerment truly means.

One of the most meaningful experiences in my journey has been connecting with women from different backgrounds through various communities and initiatives. As a Trip Leader with a women-centered travel community, I have met women with diverse stories, dreams, and challenges. Some were entrepreneurs building businesses from scratch. Others were professionals balancing careers and family responsibilities. Many were women who had overcome significant obstacles to create better lives for themselves and their children.

Listening to their stories reinforced my belief that economic power comes in many forms. It can be a woman starting a small business to support her family. It can be a mother investing in her children's education. It can be a community leader organizing resources to help other women succeed. It can even be a woman finding the courage to pursue a dream she once thought was impossible.

I have also learned that true prosperity is connected to the well-being of our communities. A family cannot thrive without access to education, healthcare, clean water, and a safe environment.

Economic power should not only benefit individuals; it should create positive change for everyone. When women have opportunities to learn, earn, and lead, entire communities become stronger.

In many parts of the world, women continue to face barriers such as unequal pay, limited access to resources, and social expectations that restrict their opportunities. Yet women continue to innovate, create, and contribute. They are farmers, caregivers, teachers, entrepreneurs, activists, and leaders. Their work sustains families and drives progress, even when it goes unnoticed.

My vision for the future is simple but powerful. I want to see a world where every woman has the opportunity to reach her full potential. I want girls to grow up believing that their dreams are valid and achievable. I want women to have access to education, skills training, financial resources, and supportive networks that help them succeed.

I also hope to continue using my own experiences to encourage other women. Sometimes empowerment begins with a conversation, a shared story, or a reminder that someone is not alone. By supporting one another, we create pathways for collective growth and success.

Today, when I think about economic power, I no longer think only about money. I think about a widow who refused to give up on her daughters. I think about mothers who work tirelessly for their families. I think about women who create opportunities where none existed before. I think about communities built on cooperation, compassion, and shared progress.

Economic power is the ability to build a better future—for ourselves, our families, and our communities. It is the freedom to make choices, the courage to pursue opportunities, and the determination to keep moving forward despite obstacles.

My journey has taught me that true wealth is not measured by what we own. It is measured by the lives we touch, the opportunities we create, and the hope we inspire in others. When women are empowered economically, they do more than improve their own lives—they help build a more just, prosperous, and compassionate world for everyone.
