Digital Health Project: 1000 Youth, 1000 Healthy Choices
My Project is called 1000 Youth, 1000 Healthy Choices. It is a youth-led public health awareness campaign that encourages young people to make simple, healthy choices every day. As the founder of ThriveCore Health Network, a digital health platform on tiktok I believe that many health problems can be prevented when people have access to the right information and are empowered to make better decisions. Through this project, I want to show that living a healthier life does not always require big changes. Small daily actions, when practiced consistently, can lead to a healthier future.
The idea for this project comes from my passion for public health and my desire to help young people become more informed about their health. In many communities, especially among young people, there is still limited access to simple and reliable health education. Many teenagers and young adults receive health information from social media, friends, or unreliable sources, which can lead to misinformation and unhealthy habits. At the same time, issues such as poor nutrition, physical inactivity, mental health challenges, substance abuse, and preventable diseases continue to affect young people. I want to help bridge this gap by providing accurate, easy-to-understand, and practical health information that young people can apply in their daily lives.
The campaign will mainly use digital platforms because they allow information to reach many people quickly and at little cost. I will create short educational videos, engaging social media posts, infographics, voice-over content, and simple health tips that are easy to understand and share. The content will focus on topics such as healthy eating, the importance of regular physical activity, mental health awareness, stress management, sleep, hygiene, disease prevention, sexual and reproductive health education, avoiding harmful substances such as tobacco, alcohol, and drugs, and making informed lifestyle choices. Every piece of content will encourage young people to take one small healthy action each day.
In addition to online activities, I hope to organize community discussions and interactive awareness sessions whenever possible. These discussions will create safe spaces where young people can ask questions, share experiences, and learn from one another. I believe that education becomes more powerful when people are actively involved in conversations instead of simply receiving information. These sessions will also help build trust and encourage peer-to-peer learning, where young people motivate each other to adopt healthier lifestyles.
My target audience is young people, particularly teenagers and young adults between the ages of 15 and 35. This is an important stage of life because many lifelong habits are formed during these years. By reaching young people early, I believe we can help prevent many future health problems and encourage a generation that values healthy living. The campaign will also encourage young people to become ambassadors of healthy lifestyles by sharing the information with their friends, families, schools, and communities.
One of the unique aspects of this project is its positive and practical approach. Instead of focusing only on diseases or negative health outcomes, the campaign will encourage healthy habits that anyone can start immediately. For example drinking more water, eating fruits and vegetables, exercising for at least thirty minutes daily, getting enough sleep, talking openly about mental health, reducing scree time, attending regular health check-ups are all simple actions that can improve overall well-being
The name 1000 Youth, 1000 Healthy Choices reflects the project's main goal. I aim to directly reach at least one thousand young people through digital platforms, community engagement, and educational activities. However, I believe the impact will extend beyond those one thousand individuals because each participant can influence others around them. If every person adopts one healthy habit and inspires someone else to do the same, the impact of the campaign will continue to grow even after the project officially ends.
I also hope this project will strengthen my skills as a public health advocate and community leader. Through developing educational content, engaging with audiences, organizing awareness activities, and collaborating with others, I will gain valuable experience in health communication, leadership, digital advocacy, and community engagement. These experiences will prepare me for future initiatives and help me contribute more effectively to improving public health in my community.
Success for this project will not only be measured by the number of people reached but also by the level of engagement and positive behavior change. I will monitor social media engagement, including views, shares, comments, and interactions, while also collecting feedback from participants during community discussions. I hope to hear stories from young people who begin exercising regularly, improve their eating habits, seek help for mental health challenges, or encourage others to make healthier choices. These real-life changes will demonstrate the true impact of the campaign.
Looking beyond this fellowship, I hope to expand 1000 Youth, 1000 Healthy Choices into a larger movement that reaches schools, universities, youth organizations, and communities across Ghana and eventually other African countries. I would like to partner with health professionals, educators, community organizations, and volunteers to create more educational resources, organize health outreach programs, and develop sustainable youth-led health initiatives. My long-term vision is to build a strong network of young health advocates who inspire healthier communities through education, prevention, and positive action.
Ultimately, 1000 Youth, 1000 Healthy Choices is more than a campaign—it is a movement that empowers young people to take responsibility for their health one choice at a time. I believe that every healthy decision, no matter how small, contributes to a stronger, healthier future. By providing accessible health education, encouraging positive lifestyle changes, and building a supportive community, I hope to inspire young people to become champions of health in their homes, schools, workplaces, and communities. Through this project, I want to prove that when young people are equipped with knowledge and encouraged to act, they have the power to transform not only their own lives but also the health and well-being of the communities around them.
